  • Publishing your delivery cadence, and what it commits you to
    nickN nick

Every MSP website in the country says proactive. Almost none of them say what runs on Tuesday. We are publishing our actual cadence at Boston Managed IT this month. The marketing case for that is easy. What interested me more is what a specific public promise does to the way you staff and run delivery.

I put this on the site rather than dumping the whole thing here, but the discussion belongs in this thread. Corrections welcome, especially from anyone who has actually done it.

    Running an MSP

  • Shutting down an MSP without selling it

Almost every exit conversation assumes a sale. There is another version nobody writes about, where you are done and there is no buyer worth the trouble. Wound down properly, that business is often worth more than it would be sold badly.

    Selling Your MSP

  • Welcome to the Cyber Harbor community
    nickN nick

Welcome, and thanks for being here.

This is a community for people who own and run managed services businesses. It is hosted by The Cyber Harbor Group, but it is not a sales channel. The point is to have the conversations that are hard to have anywhere else, because your peers are usually your competitors and your vendors are usually selling.

A few things worth saying up front.

I run two MSPs myself, Boston Managed IT and Southwest Florida IT. I have made most of the mistakes being discussed here, and I am still making new ones. When I answer something, it is from operating experience, not from a playbook I read.

We do acquire MSPs. If that is why you are here, the Selling Your MSP category is the right place, and you are welcome to ask hard questions in the open rather than on a call. If it is not why you are here, nothing in this forum requires you to ever talk to us about a deal.

    How it works.

Anyone can read. Posting takes an account, which takes about thirty seconds. Every post can be voted up or down, so the useful answers rise and the noise sinks. Say what you actually think.

    Where to start.

Introduce yourself in Running an MSP: how many seats, what market, and the one thing that is currently eating your week. That last part tends to be where the good threads come from.
